Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q.
What are your prices?
A.
Prices vary based on media format. Refer to the slideshow above for more information.
Q.
How long is the conversion process?
A.
Less than one week is typical, depending on the size of the order.
Q.
What will be the format of my digital copies?
A.
MPEG-4 (mp4) for videos, MP3 (mp3) for audio, and JPEG (jpg) for images.
Q.
Can I rename my digital files when you're finished?
A.
Absolutely, I encourage it! You know your media better than I do, so feel free to change the file names once I'm finished. Just be carefully not to erase the extension, as it would corrupt the file.
Q.
Can I get a quote for my order before the pick-up?
A.
It's difficult to quote an order without knowing the video's exact runtime or quantity of prints, but I certainly promise to respect your budget and keep you updated throughout the process.
Q.
Can I provide my own USB flashdrive or external hard-drive?
A.
Yes! I'll simply create a folder on your memory device labeled Jake's Conversions.
Q.
How should I organize my pictures before the pick-up?
A.
First, consider removing photos from albums. Otherwise, a $10.00 removal fee will apply to each album. Next, group your pictures (year, event, etc.). I'll sort them the same way digitally.
Q.
How should I organize my tapes before the pick-up?
A.
Tag your tapes with descriptive post-it notes or labels to list a year and title for the digital file. This way, you'll be able to search the files chronologically and categorically on your flashdrive.
Q.
Will I be charged for submitting tapes that are blank?
A.
Nope! You'll only be charge for footage found on your tapes.
Q.
What if I want my tapes partially converted?
A.
No problem! Just leave a note and queue the tape at the start time.
Q.
What kind of tapes can you convert?
A.
VHS, VHS-C, 8mm, MiniDV, and Betamax tapes.
Q.
Can you scan slides to a USB flashdrive?
A.
Yes! Slides and negatives are both acceptable formats.
Q.
Can you convert media on discs to a USB flashdrive?
A.
Yes! DVD-R and MiniDVD are both acceptable formats.
Q.
Are there any additional or hidden fees?
A.
Additional fees will only be applied to tape repairs and video editing.
